Pam and Romano came over for dinner to meet our friend Valerie, who came up yesterday from Orvieto. Very good chemistry all around, and also good food. We had minestrone, bread, cheese, salad, and some wine. Then Pam unveiled the cake she brought.
It's a torta della rosa (because of the shape, not the flavor) and it's traditional in Vallegio sul Mincio, which is in our general vicinity. It's a simple sweet yeast bread, with a little sugar on top, and sensationally good. We all took a dainty half piece and then ended up going back for seconds and thirds.
Lucky, lucky us.
And please note the big milk chocolate Easter egg waiting for its turn tomorrow. A nice lady at the Latteria downstairs gave it to me yesterday just out of friendliness.
