Haircut

On Tuesday, June 20, Danny and I went over to the neighboring town of Petrella because Danny needed a haircut and our friend Rita introduced us to Fabio, who has a shop over there. One the way out of town I stopped off at the Comune (city hall) to sign some papers for my application to be recognized as an Italian. Fabio did a nice job, so nice that I now question whether Danny shouldn't give up on cutting his hair himself.

Fabio, who's a young guy, told us that it's very hard to live in these little towns because all the other young people have left, to go north or elsewhere in Europe in search of work. "I only have three friends in this whole town," he said.

Hey. We finally get to see our first potential depressive in Molise and there are no photos, no background, really no details at all? Why can't Fabio come to all the parties in Montagano? Has he met Lorenzo?

I don't think he's a depressive, just a realist. He does come over to Montagano, which is why he knew Rita. And therefore I'm sure he's met Lorenzo. But I imagine fun in the cantina pales after a while. You know how 20-somethings complain about how dead Napa is? Imagine places that are 5% of Napa's size and inhabited mostly by grandmas.

As to why no photos...I realize I do not have the mind of a photojournalist. Photos usually don't occur to me until too late.
